At the age of one month, there still aren't regular sleep cycles and your baby can sleep for 16-17 hours a day in short segments of one hour. As your child grows, they will need less sleep.

There are a few recommendations to create a safe sleeping environment and to lower the chances of SIDS:

- Using a crib with a "standard mark" from the SII with a firm mattress and tight sheets.

- Place the crib in your room, but make sure your baby doesn't sleep with you in your bed.

- Place your baby on his back, not on his side or stomach.

- Make sure the room is ventilated and keep the room at a nice temperature of 22-24 degrees Celsius. Dress your baby in comfortable pyjamas.

- Keep soft object away, such as pillows or dolls, to lower the chances of choking.

- It is recommended to use a pacifier at bed time.
